Youth Offerings

Our prayer is that all of our youth will find a place to be connected with one another and to the congregation. Each week youth are invited to attend the Teen Issues Group held on Sunday mornings. Youth are also welcome to take part in social opportunities and service projects, including volunteering with the Appalachia Service Project where they spend a week serving the people of Central Appalachia, to develop a sense of community and desire to serve God.

Faith Formation And Fellowship

Teen Issues Group

Each Sunday morning, high school youth are invited to meet downstairs in the youth room during the worship service to discuss contemporary issues of the day and how those issues relate to their spiritual journey, religion, and the Church.

Pilgrim Fellowships

Through our Middle and High School youth groups we provide a safe environment that fosters a sense of welcome and belonging where our youth can journey together in deepening their faith, spirituality, knowledge and love of God. Our schedule of events provides a balance of discussion nights, recreation, service, and weekend retreats. We traditionally have two groups, Junior Pilgrim Fellowship (JPF) for youth in grades 6-8 and Senior Pilgrim Fellowship (SPF) for youth in grades 9-12, who meet on most Sunday evenings in the youth room for food, fun and fellowship.

Youth Camp - Silver Lake Conference Center

Our church encourages young people from fourth grade through high school to participate in the summer camp program at Silver Lake Conference Center in Sharon, Connecticut. Many youth have had their spiritual lives shaped by these experiences. Some financial assistance for camp is available through the Board of Christian Education.

Service

Service to others is an essential element of our church's mission. Youth are invited to volunteer in a variety of service projects throughout the year including a Halloween party for the children of the church, leaf raking, collecting money for turkey and a twenty, Christmas caroling, and the sleep-out for the homeless. On the 3rd Saturday of each month the Senior Pilgrim Fellowship meets at church at 7:15 am to go to Center Church in Hartford to prepare, cook, and serve breakfast to the homeless.

Appalachia Service Project (ASP)

Youth who have completed 9th grade are welcome to participate in the Appalachia Service Project, a week long home repair service project, which our Church supports, each summer. All youth are encouraged to fill out an application early in the fall.

The 2019 ASP Application is now available! Hurry up and sign up before we're full!!
